Country 1800's Trunk or Chest, Great Coffee Table

This hand-made immigrant trunk or country chest is solid walnut with hand dovetailed corners, and would be a wonderful coffee table - feet could be added for greater height if desired.

The patina is exceptionally warm, and this trunk has lots of antique character with cracks, stains and dents. There are holes from where 2 separate locks were once mounted - the contents must have been valuable. Under the lid is a carved block with hand-faceted iron nails to join the two top boards

This sturdy antique furniture is from about 1800 and measures 38" long, 18" wide and 11 1/2" tall.
