One of the finest handmade solid walnut immigrant trunks or blanket chests we have ever seen, this "six board" antique dates from about 1820.
Each side is single wide plank of walnut hardwood, all with hand cut dovetails at the corners. Even the feet and lid are dovetailed together, and the top is secured with wooden pegs.
The ends have hand-wrought iron handles, the lock has no key or catch-plate, and inside is a small compartment.
There is lots of character - stains, warps and mars - on this nostalgic furniture, which would serve as a wonderful coffee table. Size is 44" long, 23" wide and 29" tall. Y-T5622
