A Victorian hand carved half-round console table flips open to a round chess table with brilliant inlaid marquetry in exotic wood.
The base pedestal is solid walnut, the top flips open revealing a compartment for game pieces, and swivels to form a true circular top game table. Inlaid rosewood, mahogany, burl, birch and cherry form a chess or checkers table on this radiant antique dating from about 1870.
Very solid furniture, the finish is excellent, with a few stains and mars on the semi-circular top, see photos. This precious gem measures 35" in diameter and 31" tall closed, 30" tall when opened.
