Hand-carved of solid chestnut with traditional Brittany France motifs this wonderful china cabinet has 2 glass doors.
Traditional folk scenes of village life are carved into panels, and there are sculptures of a couple at their wedding. Deep and well-proportioned moldings are all around, the back is paneled and pegged.
This antique furniture can be disassembled to move if needed, and the bottom drawer is hand dovetailed.
Brittany or Bretagne is a maritime province of northwest France. Formerly a separate country, the "Breton" language is still spoken. Famous for their cultural traditions and distinctive dress, the local hand-carved furniture has outstanding workmanship, using native local hardwoods with picturesque traditional motifs. The finish is excellent on this heirloom furniture, which traditionally descended with the daughters of a family, as part of their dowry.
There are only minor mars at the edges. Dimensions are 4'5" wide, 20" deep and 7'5 1/2" tall. A-B2059
