This Mahogany flip and swivel top Empire game table dates from about 1820 and the family told us it was originally from New York.
The spectacular base has a center acanthus carved column with four hand-carved paw feel. Gold plated bronze mounts and brass wheels are authentic, and the deep rich finish is excellent.
The top is a single plank of solid mahogany, and the apron is flame grain all around with a little crazing to the finish. Turning the top reveals a storage compartment for game pieces.
This sturdy and very usable antique furniture is also beautiful when the top is raised against a wall as a console or server. When closed, dimensions 3' long, 18" deep, and 28" tall, when flipped open, size is 3' square and 27 1/2" tall. C-T5728
