Victorian Silverplate 1880 Tilting Pitcher

An elegant example of authentic Victorian silverplate, this tilting insulated water pitcher has a stand and a cup, which is a replacement. Made in America in the 1880's, this antique is signed "Middletown Quadruple Plate."
There are scratches, dings and wear, but this is a beautiful serving piece in wonderful condition for its age. Fine hand engraving and filigree metalwork are especially marvelous. Inside is a porcelain liner.
The replacement silver cup is worn partly through to the brass underneath, it does rest firmly on the pedestal, but perhaps a more Victorian goblet might be found someday. Size is 12" across and 20" tall. D-S1782
