Richly detailed in solid oak about 1885, this lavish cabinet would have descended with the daughter of a family as part of her dowry. Inside is lots of storage for linens, silver, pewter and treasures she would have taken with her upon her marriage.
The warm deep brown finish is very good, there is some "smoke" to the tiny beveled mirrors to show their age. Various mars and shrinkage separations give character and patina to this historic antique furniture. The carving is all done by hand, and there are hand-cut dovetails on the drawers as well. For moving, this enchanting cabinet disassembles into three pieces.
In the center are columns and a gallery flanking an open area for display or serving. Measurements 55" wide, 21" deep and 7'9" tall. The surface is 38" from the floor.
