A simple but very elegant Swedish country pine tall case or grandfather clock dates from about 1780. In fine running condition, the brass 8 day movement has been professionally cleaned and oiled. The tin dial has hand- painted numerals, the hand-wrought brass hands and pendulum appear original.
Hand-carved and pegged rather than nailed, the sound and stable pine furniture case has old paint. Note shrinkage separations from age. This historic 18th Century Scandinavian antique clock is well proportioned, the crank, lock and hardware are all handmade. There are wavy glass windows in the sides, and dimensions are 21" wide, 9" deep and 6'4" tall.
