Called a "Tete a Tete," or literally "head to head," this side by side double chair or settee was designed to exchange gossip, while keeping an eye on the surroundings.
Hand carved of walnut in the 1890's, this rare antique is in very good condition. The finish is very fine, with a few small mars and flaws. Springs are firm and supportive, the frame is usable with a little flex, it could be reglued at the next reupholstering.
The fabric is not worn but not spotless either - see photos. Size of this nostalgic furniture is 49" long, 28" wide, and the curved arm is 25" tall, seats are 17" high.
