This maple and cast iron bookpress was used by a printer to flatten a newly sewn book when binding it. A hard maple frame and block is operated by hand, turning the iron double handle, screwing down until the book is nicely flat.
Dating from the 1890's, the finish is very good. Measurements of this nostalgic antique are 18" long, 8" wide and 27" tall when screwed fully down.
