An authentic Victorian melodeon, an 1840's version of a pump or reed organ, has a gorgeous rosewood case and is in exceptional playing condition.
This historic New York City musical instrument is signed "Prince & Co., Pat. Dec. 1846." A "portable" model, this is lightweight antique furniture - easily carried outside for garden parties.
The right foot pedal operates the bellows, and the left pedal is the "swell" or louder volume. Because of extensive internal restoration, this melodeon plays well and hold air nicely for long and even tone.
Ivory keys are original, the satiny finish is excellent. Measurements are 31" long, 17" deep and 29" tall.
