King Size Antique Bed, Bronze Cherubs

A beautiful king size bed is mahogany, with marquetry inlay and bronze sculptures of cherubs or angels. Attached bedside tables or nightstands have marble tops and lights with etched glass globes.

This palatial bed was hand-made in northern Italy about 1910, and shows Art Nouveau influence. The high-relief cast bronze sculptures are remarkable works of art in their own right, the scene of cherubs dancing around the tree of life on the footboard is spectacular.

Bronze hardware is also original on this authentic antique furniture. The finish is very fine with rich warm patina. Overall, the effect is glamorous and the condition is very good, close inspection reveals lots of character - mars, shrinkage separations, blisters - which have been retouched over the years. Lighting has been rewired for American fittings and 110 volts.

Skillfully adapted to fit standard modern king-size bedding, this imposing historic bed disassembles into manageable pieces for moving. Dimensions are 9"8" wide, 6'6" tall, 7'8" long, the footboard is 43" tall and 6'11" wide.
