Brittany or Bretagne is a maritime province of northwest France. Formerly a separate country, the "Breton" language is still spoken. Famous for their cultural traditions and distinctive dress, the local hand-carved furniture has outstanding workmanship, using native local hardwoods with picturesque traditional motifs.
The finish is excellent on this heirloom furniture, which traditionally descended with the daughters of a family, as part of their dowry. The original beveled mirror has deterioration, it could be resilvered if desired. Drawers have hand-cut dovetails, and size is 39" wide, 21" deep, 58" tall and the top is 32" high.
