Shaker Pegged Antique Rocking Chair, Rush Seat

    Iconic clean and artistic lines define this Shaker design rocker. Solid birch with hand-carved pegs at the joints, the old rush seat is sturdy and usable, there is fraying at the edges and some stains on the seat and arm.

There is an excellent finish on the frame, which is tight and has no loose joints, with a few mars and chips. The curve of the back makes this very comfortable furniture.

It is hard to date such a classic American antique because these have been made for over 150 years, but this appears to be about 100 years old. Size is 23" wide, 30" deep, 43" tall and the seat is about 16" high.
