French Marquetry Marble Top Bombe Chest

    This authentic antique mahogany French commode or three drawer chest has a shaped marble top. The gracefully curved "bombe" or convex sides and front have artistically inlaid marquetry in mahogany and satinwood. Lavish heavy brass mounts are original. Richly grained green marble is in excellent condition. Drawers and the case have dovetailed construction.

The polished finish is excellent with very little wear and luscious warm patina, enhancing the dramatic shimmering wood grain. There are only tiny mars, plus a blemish on the right side, see photo. There are hand-cut dovetails on the case and solid oak drawer sides as well. This spectacular furniture was hand crafted in the 1930's, dimensions are 39" wide, 22" deep and 32" tall.
