Artistically hand-carved and painted, this wooden statue is presumed to be of Jesus and has lots of character - mars and losses. Spanish colonial sculpture of this type depicted various saints and were often smaller and called "Santos." The origin is unknown.
Probably sculpted in the early to mid 1800's, the flowing drapery and peaceful expression are serene. One hand is entirely missing, there are losses to the other hand as well. No restoration has been done on this antique work of art - it is all original.
Height of this inspiring figure is 30" and this sculpture is 16" across.
