Mahogany Antique 1800 Tall Case Grandfather Clock

— $3,975.00 —

An authentic antique tall case or grandfather clock has a mahogany case and dates from about 1800. This Georgian clock is signed "Will'm Cooper, Hamelton." Now spelled Hamilton, the village is near Nottingham and Birmingham in central England. William Cooper was still making clocks in 1815.

The solid case has an excellent finish, flame grain panels and door are especially beautiful. Shaped and spool-turned columns are charming on this historic antique furniture. The base has wonderful lion paw feet and shows some rebuilding. There are shrinkage separations and warps as would be expected in a genuine antique of this age, see photos.

In fine running order, the 8 day handmade brass movement has been professionally cleaned and oiled, it strikes the hour. The brass pendulum appears original, the winding crank is a modern replacement.

Chips to the hand-painting on the iron dial suggest that the paint is also original, notice deterioration especially at the lower right. Engraved brass hands also appear original.

Dimensions of this classic Georgian period timepiece are 21" wide, 11" deep and just over 8' tall.
