Richly carved of solid fine grained oak, a Victorian period writing desk or library table has 2 drawers. This historic antique furniture recalls Renaissance English design from the era of Henry VIII, and dates from about 1900.
The trestle base supports 4 large turned legs. Drawers have original hand-hammered brass pulls and hand dovetailed joints.
The rich satiny finish is superb - there are small shrinkage separations from age in the large balls on the legs - see photos.
There are stately moldings and carved details, the top is a full 1 1/4" thick. Measurements are 4' 11" long, 37" wide, 31 1/2" tall and legroom is 23 1/2" high.
