This is a late 1890's Victorian or Eastlake period writing desk with "spoon" or "chip" carving in solid quarter sawn oak.
The rich brown finish is excellent on all four sides, there is a gallery for books at the top. Panelled on the backside, the center drawer is dovetailed, brass knobs appear original.
Alluring American antique furniture, the writing surface slopes upward from 29 1/2" at the front. Dimensions are 32" wide, 24" deep and 36" tall.
