This French military sword bayonet has a sheath or scabbard, and mounts to attach to a rifle and a loop to use as a small sword.

There are numerous hallmarks on the blade and the guard, and the flat edge of the blade is hand engraved "16re d' Armes St. Etienne (?) 1879." The bayonet is 25" long, the scabbard is 21" long.
