Renaissance Carved 4 Door Bookcase, Iron Grills

Richly hand carved in the Renaissance manner, this walnut bookcase has spectacular hand-carved cherub and lion heads. All four feet are sculptures of strong men supporting this substantial furniture. Delicate wrought iron grillwork on all four doors is over glass.

The lustrous finish is excellent with only minor mars at the edges on this antique from about 1890. Interior shelves are adjustable on wooden supports. Hand-cut dovetails are visible on the backside and in the three lower drawers, which have carved pulls.

Deep moldings and balanced proportions lend grandeur to this remarkable bookcase. Dimensions are 7' 5" wide, 19" deep and 5' 11" tall.
