Famous "bird's eye" grain maple has contrasting ebonized moldings on this Victorian period armoire or wardrobe with "secret" drawer in the base.
The finish is very fine, with various touchups and repairs over the years plus beautiful antique patina. Shimmering natural grain is beautiful, with stunning contrast in satiny black. There are irregularities, warps and shrinkage separations, especially on the sides, see photos.
Drawers have hand-cut dovetails, the key is a handle only. The mirror has just enough "smoke" to show its age. Inside are adjustable shelves on wooden supports.
Austrian furniture from the 1870's, this antique shows Biedermeier design influence. This beautiful armoire can be disassembled to move, and it must be anchored to the wall for stability.
Measurements are 43" wide, 22" deep and 7' 10" tall.
