A three panel screen was hand carved of solid fine grained oak about 1890 in England. The sculpted panels depict fascinating scenes of pub or Rathskeller life. Lower panels are a form of wainscoting.
The original finish is very well preserved on this furniture with small mars at the edges for antique character. Waxed and polished, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm luster. Double action hinges are later and there is a shrinkage crack through the center panel, see photos.
Each panel is 20" wide and 70" tall, so the screen is 60" if stretched flat. If used accordion style as shown width is a little over 4' wide.
