This charming pair of chests or dressers with marble tops was carved of solid ash hardwood about 1880, during the late Victorian or Eastlake period.
The warm finish is in excellent condition, engraved rosey brass hardware is original. Marble tops have been polished and sealed to resist stains. Drawers have round "pin and cove" dovetail joints, characteristic of the era.
Delicate incised "spoon" carving is picturesque on this American made antique furniture. The dresser has a swivel mirror with original curved bevel glass plus candle stands. Size is 43" wide, 21" deep and 79" tall.
The small bedside chest or commode is 31 1/2" wide, 18" deep and 34" tall.
