This splendid bookcase is solid cherry and dates from the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1875.
The original ebonized finish has just enough wear and mars at the edges for antique character, and has been preserved with matte varnish.
The door lock still works, shelves are adjustable. Lower drawers have authentic hand cut dovetail joints on this American made furniture.
Fine details and incised "spoon" carving are beautiful, measurements are 58" wide, 17" deep and 6' 9" tall.
