A genuine Country French "Vaisselier" pewter cupboard, server or sideboard was hand carved in the 1890's. Solid cherry has inlaid elm burl panels, the top of the base has been revarnished for durability.
The rest of the finish is original and very well preserved, waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
Carved square pegs at the joints, hand planing and chisel marks of a master carver are visible on this antique furniture from France. There are minor shrinkage separations from age, see photos.
Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints. Hardware is original, a key operates double throw locks. The upper section with galleries is removable for easier transport.
Measurements are 73 1/2" wide, 23" deep, 7' 1/2" tall and the base is 41 1/2" high.
