From the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1880, a stationary or platform rocking chair is solid walnut with burl panels. Incised carving is characteristic of the era. Button tufted upholstery is recent and unworn. These rockers were prized because they did not "travel" as they rocked.
The finish was restored years ago and is in very fine condition on this American made antique furniture. The frame is tight and strong, porcelain wheels are original.
Measurements are 27" wide, 31" deep, 41" tall and seats are 17" high.
