Handmade about 1830, this classic sideboard, server or buffet was said to be from New York state. Mahogany with tapered columns and hand carved Ionic capitals, the top is a single plank of solid mahogany over 1" thick.
The finish is excellent, door panels have matched flame or crotch grain. Old brasses are beautiful but not original. Locks do not work, door keys are handles only. Two doors have a warp, see photos. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints, chamfered bottoms and inlaid banding on the fronts.
American made Empire period furniture, proportions and clean lines are beautiful. Dimensions of this historic antique are 62" wide, 24" deep and 42 1/2" tall.
