"Checkers up at the Farm," a sculpture by famed New York sculptor, John Rogers, is signed and dated 1873. We see no damage and very little wear to the original finish other than slight touchup at the edges.
The naturalistic composition is nostalgic and radiates family warmth - the checkerboard rests on a wooden barrel, a cat hides under a chair.
Roger's work clearly inspired the Norman Rockwell Americana tradition, and this is a very charming work of art. Dimensions of this stucco ensemble are 18" wide, 12" deep and 20" tall.
