Entirely handmade by a highly skilled country carpenter about 1825, this solid cherrywood dropleaf table is beautiful. There is a drawer at one end with hand-cut dovetails, and the brass pull appears original. Legs have wooden pegs, and the hand-wrought brass ferrules and wheels are original.
The finish is excellent, enhancing the subtle cherry grain. Said to be from rural Connecticut, this is country Sheraton furniture design at its finest.
This authentic antique has hand planing everywhere, and could serve as a small dining or breakfast table, or as a sofa table.
Measurements are 42" long, 29" tall, 22" wide with the dropleaves down, 41" wide with the dropleaves raised.
