Country French Semanier or Lingerie Chest

This lovely Country French lingerie chest has seven drawers, one for each day of the week, called in French a "semanier," or weekly chest.
Meticulously hand carved in solid walnut, the front is subtly bowed, and the curved sides have raised panels. Drawers have dovetailed solid oak sides, and finished inside to prevent snagging of delicate silks. Brass hardware is original, and the finish is superb on this vintage furniture from France, dating from about 1940.
Dimensions are 35" wide, 19" deep and 55" tall.
