Country Pine Courting or Fireside Bench

Will Shakespeare wooed Anne Hathaway on a courting bench like this. Also called a fireside bench, there is a hood to concentrate a fire's warmth. This solid pine bench has raised panels, and the original glowing brown finish is in very fine condition.

Dating from the early 1900's, this antique furniture has some distressing to give it the look of centuries. Because these were often drawn close to the fireplace, the backside is also raised panels and finished.

Note a shrinkage separation in the top left panel, dimensions are 56" wide, 18" deep, 5'1" tall and the seat is 17" high.
