Country Walnut 1840 Lift-lid Commode, Bonnet Box

Simple and graceful, this commode or "bonnet box" has a lift lid, used to store a pitcher and bowl. Hand made in Pennsylvania about 1840 of solid walnut by a skilled country carpenter, the drawer has beautiful hand cut dovetails.
The hand planed back still shows square nails, and the front has gentle serpentine curves. This authentic antique furniture has loads of "character," mars and wear that give it a very warm, glowing patina. Size is 33" wide, 18" deep and 34" tall.
