A wonderful American Empire chest or dresser is entirely tiger maple, with drawer fronts accented with curly or birdseye maple veneer. This dresser was hand-made about 1840, and the shimmering natural "tiger" or striped solid maple grain is spectacular everywhere.
Drawers have tiny hand-cut dovetails and chamfered bottoms, the back side is paneled. The glowing warm finish is excellent on this rugged antique furniture with loads of storage. See photos of shrinkage separation across the top drawer.
Measurements are 44" wide, 25" deep and 50" tall.
