This American Empire chest or dresser dating from about 1835 has clean lines and glorious matched flame mahogany. Most likely made in New England, drawers have tiny hand-cut dovetails and chamfered bottoms, the back is hand planed and has square nails. The top is a single plank, and the lustrous old finish is very quite good, with only minor mars at the edges.
There is ample storage in the generously scaled drawers on this harmonious antique furniture, size is 43" wide, 23" deep and 47" tall.
