From France this Brittany hand carved solid chestnut armoire has one door with folk carved scenes of traditional rural life, and the other door has a beveled mirror.
Authentic antique furniture from about 1900, this armoire disassembles for moving. Inside is a drawer and removable shelves.
Brittany or Bretagne is a maritime province of northwest France. Formerly a separate country, the "Breton" language is still spoken. Famous for their cultural traditions and distinctive dress, the local hand-carved furniture has outstanding workmanship, using native local hardwoods with picturesque traditional motifs.
The finish is excellent on this heirloom furniture. The back side shows raised panels and wooden pegs. Size of this armoire is 4'1" wide, 21" deep and 8'1" tall including the removable crest.
