A sculpture of a seated young girl peering down at her kitten was hand carved in the late 1800's. A single block of white marble with delicate veining, this unsigned work of art is probably Italian.

There are minor chips plus a repair to one corner of the base, see photos. The naturalistic pose is truly charming - she is knitting a stocking and pauses to glance at the kitten, busy playing with her ball of yarn.

Height of this sweet antique statue is 15 1/2" tall.
