Completely rebuilt about 25 years ago, this curly walnut "Mason & Hamlin" grand piano from 1938 includes a bench. Expert rebuilding signed by famous Chicago piano dealer, "Kurt Saphir," included the action, pin block and strings. The soundboard was reglued rather than replaced, which is the preferred restoration today. This beloved musical instrument holds a tune well.
Beautifully figured, the case has a fine old finish with minor wear, scratches and touchups. Mellow and warm tone is what would be expected of Mason and Hamlin, especially sought after by musicians.
Original natural material keys have no chips but there are minor shrinkage separations from age, see photos.
Piano size is 6' 2" long, 59" wide and 39" tall. The bench has storage under the lid and measures 35" long, 15" deep and 18 1/2" tall.
