Dating from about 1890, this late Victorian or Eastlake spoon-carved oak desk chair is beautiful and very usable. Solid oak with characteristic incised "chip" carving, the finish is in very fine condition.
This is very comfortable furniture because of the wide arms and curved "arrow" spindle backs. The easy-rolling wheels are modern. The cane seat is slightly sagged with about 3 broken strands, it will probably last years before it needs recaning.
The tension on the tilt is adjustable, there is very little "wiggle" to the iron shaft that adjusts up and down.
Measurements of this rugged antique are 23" wide, 24" deep, 45-48" tall and the seat is 18-21" high.
