We have no idea what this exquisite octagonal display or curio cabinet was made to hold - perhaps crown jewels or a saintly relic.
Shaped like an exotic Renaissance pavilion, this furniture was hand made of walnut about 1865 in northern Europe.
The original finish includes hand painted details in red and burnished gold with wear and beautiful antique patina. Old wavy glass is charming.
The only original opening to the enclosed case is with a wooden release underneath, it allows one side panel to slide down, the opening is 6 1/4" wide and 14" tall. The interior floor is unfinished.
Overall size of this antique glass treasure box is 20" diameter and 57" tall.
