A traditional Brittany design sideboard or back bar cabinet has inspired hand carved figures and scenes that date from the 1920's. Solid oak, the incredible three dimensional sculptures and detailed scenic tableaux depict country life and celebrations. Corner statues are true individual representations.
The center panel depicts a lively wedding dance with musicians. Surrounding are scenes of the bridal couple and parents. All figures are individuals, expertly captured by the artist in perspective with detailed costumes and traditional instruments.
The original finish has been cleaned and waxed, it is in superb condition for its age. The center surface has been revarnished for durability and stain resistance. Hardware and working locks are original. The drawer is dovetailed, curved galleries have spindle rails.
