A lion head presides over this monumental court cupboard, probably part of a dowry, made in France about 1890.
The exquisitely detailed artistry depicts shell and fruit motifs plus deep moldings and fluted columns. Delicately tooled backgrounds enhance three dimensional hand sculptured panels.
The finish is in excellent condition on this palatial walnut furniture, there is a slight sag in the top to show its age, see photos.
Original brasses are embossed with dolphins and faces, drawers have hand cut dovetail joints. Above the open center is a gallery for display.
This historic European cabinet can be disassembled for moving. Measurements are 64" wide, 23" deep, 8' 2" tall and the base is 39" high.
