Signed "H. Troemner, Philadelphia," a Victorian oak and marble balance scale dates from about 1880. Used for pharmaceuticals, gold or silver, this authentic American antique still works, it would have been used with a separate set of weights.
Henry Troemner was a prominent scale maker, and this example is in very fine condition. The solid quarter sawn oak base has an original finish and supports a white marble top that is polished and sealed, signed brass pans are removable. Behind a glass porthole in the the front are pointers that indicate balance.
Size is 19" long, 8" deep and 7" tall.
