This 16 drawer file cabinet or map chest was made to hold prints or manuscripts in a library and was made about 1910.
Solid oak with mostly quarter sawn grain, the finish is in excellent condition.
This top quality antique furniture is signed "Library Bureau," indicating that is was furnished by the Carnegie Foundation to a local library.
Bronze hardware is original on drawers with tiny dovetail joints. Drawers have finger push holes in the bottoms to protect the corners of paper, interior size is 21" wide x 13" deep and 3 1/2" high.
Dimensions are 48" wide, 15" deep, 59 1/2" tall and the flat top is 40" high.
