Dating from the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1880, a cylinder roll top desk is solid quarter sawn oak. The finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique furniture.
There is incised carving and the drawer has round or "pin and cove" dovetail joints. A pull out writing surface is inlaid with saddle leather. Original hardware includes patinated brass pulls with Egyptian Pharaoh heads. Inside are tiny cubicles and drawers plus an old India ink stain, see photos.
The roll glides smoothly. Size is 40" wide, 25" deep, 48" tall and the desktop is 30" high.
