A spectacular 1870's washstand is curly or "birdseye" maple.
The finish is in excellent condition, preserving a few stains and mars and tiny losses at the edges for antique character, see photos. American made furniture, there are a few shrinkage separations from age.
Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and chamfered bottoms and original carved pulls. Hand cut dovetail joints are also visible on the backside. The frame is solid maple, turned and shaded to look like bamboo. This was part of a Japanese fashion at the time, and Pres. Harrison had a very similar set in the White House.
The washstand or dressing table has a working lock in the door. Dimensions are 41" wide, 20" deep and 34" tall, the top surface is 29" high.
