An 1835 era Empire period dropleaf or "Pembroke" table could be a nightstand as well. Entirely handcrafted in the eastern U.S., the restored satiny finish is in excellent condition.
Mahogany has matched flame grain on the top and front. There is a shrinkage separation from age on the backside, see photos. Drawers on this antique furniture have hand cut dovetail joints, octagonal legs are well proportioned.
Dimensions with both drop leaves down are 20" wide, 22 1/2" deep and 29" tall, with both leaves raised, width is 42" overall.
