A large late Georgian corner cabinet was carved of mahogany about 1820 in England. Doors have individual glass panes, many are original wavy glass. The carved and pierced pediment is exceptional on this antique furniture.
The restored deep finish is in very fine condition, preserving various mars, restorations and shrinkage separations from age over the centuries. Upper and lower doors have keys. Upper shelves have grooves to display plates.
Everywhere are hand planing marks and cut square nails. The case is joined with hand cut dovetail joints. For easier delivery, the top section is a separate piece. A fragment of a label is from the New Orleans antique auction where this was purchased in 1947.
Measurements are 5' wide across the crown tip to tip, sides are 40 1/2" from the back corner to the front of the crown, and 8' 2" tall.
