Item# 30311 WEBO
This "banjo" barometer and thermometer from the mid 1800's has a mahogany case with inlaid satinwood banding, signed by noted maker, "P. Mantova, Luton." Luton is a beautiful ancient town just northwest of London in England.
The Fahrenheit thermometer is engraved "Freezing" to "Blood Heat," and the barometer contains mercury, but we do not know how to adjust and cannot guarantee working or accuracy.
Dials are hand engraved and painted on this antique weather instrument. There is an ivory setting knob for the barometer that does not work.
The original finish is very well preserved on this antique weather instrument. A door on the back opens to glass tubes for the mercury. There is a convex mirror and glass level.
Size is 40" tall, 3" deep and 11" across.
