A genuine rosewood "Melodeon" or early pump organ from about 1860 still plays remarkably well. Hand carved details are exquisite on this Victorian period antique musical instrument, signed "W. W. Kimball of Chicago," later a prominent piano maker.
The old finish is very well preserved with just enough wear for character, the top folds flat to make a table or console when not being played. Original ivories are in extremely fine condition.
The right pedal operates the bellows, the left pedal is a "swell" or louder. A stop on the right is "Vox Humana," or a human voice vibrato effect. Operated by the right leg is a pedal for forte in the treble register.
Dimensions of this historic furniture are 54" wide, 24" deep and 36" tall excluding the folding music desk. This item has sold.
